Smotrich: Destroy 10 Beirut Buildings Per Rocket Targeting Israel

(MENAFN) Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich escalated his rhetoric Saturday, renewing calls for the demolition of ten buildings in Beirut's Dahiyeh district in retaliation for every rocket launched at Israel from Lebanese territory.

Writing on X, the US-based social media platform, Smotrich tied his demands to ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran, warning that Hezbollah must not be permitted to exploit the diplomatic climate to launch offensives against communities in northern Israel.

The minister insisted that each rocket or drone fired toward Israeli territory warrant an immediate Israeli strike on ten structures within Dahiyeh — a Hezbollah stronghold nestled in Beirut's southern suburbs — and pressed for the response to be executed "immediately tonight."

Separately, the Israeli military confirmed that air raid sirens were triggered across multiple communities in northern Israel following fresh rocket fire originating from Lebanon. Military officials stated the projectiles were aimed at Israeli forces conducting operations within occupied zones of southern Lebanon, adding that no casualties had been recorded.

Earlier, Israeli media outlets reported that a drone launched from Lebanese soil breached the border, setting off sirens in two northern Israeli communities.
