Tehran Says Foreign Troops Near Iran ‘Face Risks’ Amid Rising Tensions

(MENAFN) Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a warning to foreign military forces operating near Iran, saying they “face risks” and should leave the region, following threats of retaliation from US President Donald Trump over an alleged attack on a US military helicopter.

In comments posted on X, Araghchi said the Strait of Hormuz is a shared waterway between Iran and Oman and lies far from US territory, pushing back on the framing of recent US statements.

He added that Iran’s armed forces remain on high alert and are prepared to respond to any violations of the country’s airspace, land, or waters.

Foreign military presence in the region, he said, carries the risk of “human errors, plain accidents, or potentially being caught in crossfire,” arguing that the safest course of action would be for external forces to withdraw from what he described as an inherently tense environment.

Araghchi also emphasized that Tehran still favors diplomatic engagement but insisted Iran has other options if needed. “Iran prefers the language of diplomacy. However, as our brave warriors have shown to the world, we know how to speak other languages too,” he said.
