Iran Says Bushehr Plant Produces Eighty- Billion kWh of Power

(MENAFN) Iran has announced that its Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant has produced a cumulative 80 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, according to the country’s nuclear chief on Wednesday.

Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said the milestone was achieved despite what he described as “external pressures, threats and sensitive regional conditions,” as reported by state media.

He added that electricity generation at the facility has continued without interruption over its years of operation.

Eslami said the plant’s total output is equivalent to saving about 131 million barrels of crude oil or 21.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

He also stated that the operation of the facility has helped prevent the release of an estimated 86.3 million tons of environmentally harmful emissions over time.
